Now I know why RMAC ended on a Tuesday...or not

...because that's when qualifying marks have to be in for D2 nats in San Angelo, Tex., later this month?
A few quick observations about the distance fields:
  • Adams State's Edwin Cruz earned his spot in the 10,000 meters the hard way. With no seeding time coming into the conference meet, Cruz nailed down the 17th and final spot with a win
  • Chico State had two of the "first guys not going," missing out in the 1,500m and 5,000m
  • Northwood's Sam Watson was the last one into the 800m field, edging teammate Jared Fischer by .06. Now that should make for some interesting future team practices.
May 19 update: Based on the comment below and a better reading of da rulez, qualifying extends through May 11, according to this.

  1. No, you can run qualifying marks all the way to Saturday (Like Drew Graham of Adams), maybe even Sunday. The RMAC meet is on Sunday through Tuesday so that seniors don't have to miss graduation.
